Buying at Wilson & Terry Auction Company

Wilson and Terry Auction Company, started over 10 years ago by Blake Terry and Mark Wilson, brought to the Asheville area a unique auction experience, allowing dealers and individuals in the area a wide variety of antiques and collectibles from which to preview and bid each month. Over the last decade they have strived to create a reputable, honest, and entertaining auction experience and are known throughout the Southeast to be honest and fair, something they feel is a priority with each client, wether buying or selling.

Our auctions include a wide variety of antiques and collectibles from numerous historical eras consigned primarily from estates and private collections. We normally conduct a 2 day auction every month and average between 800-1000 lots over the course of 2 days.

Because all our auctions are absolute, meaning there are no reserves or minimums that must be met, a buyer can attend our auctions, knowing they are going to have equal chance to bid on ALL items and that ALL items will be sold. All items sold through Wilson and Terry are by consignment ONLY. The auctioneers firmly believe the best way to offer a fair, no reserve auction is to have nothing more than their time and knowledge invested in an item.

We do charge a 13% *buyer's premium for all credit card purchases and a 3% discount for those paid in cash, check, or debit.

Our auctions are known for their entertaining and quick pace. In order to keep them this way, we do not sell items in numerical order. However, for our 2 day sales, please note, items numbered under 1000 are sold on Saturday and items over 1000 will be sold Sunday.

In order to prevent paper waste, we do not provide sale catalogues. If you would like to bring a detailed listing with you to follow along, we recommend printing a copy of our inventory listing and bringing it with you day of sale.

Although we highly recommend viewing the items in person during one of our many preview times, if you are unable to attend the auction in person, we do provide an absentee and/or phone bid service.

Please read our terms of sale.

How to Register as a Buyer

When you arrive at our gallery, visit the registration desk to register for a bidder number. Please let them know at the registration desk if you are already on the mailing list, as this will make you registration process much faster. You will need to show a valid Driver’s License and a Master Card or Visa credit card. If you do not wish to use a credit card, you must provide a bank letter of credit indicating your account number and the level of credit available. This letter must be provided prior to the auction so the information can be verified with your bank.

You may also pay by cash or wire transfer.

How to Leave Absentee Bids

PLEASE NOTE: Absentee bids are accepted up until 1hour before the auction starts. Any forms turned in after this deadline may not be accepted or executed. Absentee bids are entered into our computer system and a member of our staff executes that bid for the buyer in place of that buyer.

Absentee bids left with us are executed confidentially and competitively. If your maximum bid is $600 and the bidding stops at $150, the lower price is the selling price to you. However, you must be prepared to go as high as your maximum bid. We never disclose to anyone any information about absentee bids.

Print and complete our Absentee Bid Form indicating your maximum bid on each lot, excluding the  buyer’s premium. There is a $25 minimum to leave an absentee bid. We charge a 13% buyer's premium for all credit card purchases and a 3% discount for those paid in cash, check, or debit.)

Return this form to us by fax (828-645-8875), or regular mail (1098 New Stock Rd. Weaverville, NC 28787). Please allow 3-6 working days for surface mail.

Be sure to sign and date the form at the bottom. We require a Master-Card or VISA number to secure your absentee bid.

How to Leave Phone Bids

PLEASE NOTE: Phone bids are accepted until 2 hours before the auction starts. Any forms turned in after this
deadline may not be accepted or executed.

This is done by mailing (1098 New Stock Rd) Weaverville, NC 28787) or faxing us (828-645-8875) a completed and signed copy of our Phone Bid Form.

All phone bids require a $100 minimum. We require a Master-Card or VISA number to reserve a telephone, but you are not required to pay for purchases by credit card. Lot numbers and a short description of the items should also be indicated on the form.

During the auction, a member of our staff will call you about 3 minutes before the item comes up, and help you bid live at the auction. We average 100 lots an hour, and out of fairness to our audience, you must be prepared to bid quickly. Please do not use your time on the phone to preview the item. Our staff member is not required to describe the item or answer any questions about the item after you have been called to bid. Please use our various preview times to have these questions answered.
